Bhutan and India are deepening their green energy ties with a new agreement between Adani Power and Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to develop the 770 MW Chamkharchhu-I Hydroelectric Project.
Operating under a 49:51 joint venture using the BOOT model with a 30-year concession, groundbreaking is set for early 2027. This landmark plant marks the second major hydropower collaboration under a broader 5,000 MW bilateral framework—following the Wangchhu project. Beyond strengthening South Asia's transition to renewables, the plant will play a vital role in boosting winter energy security and supplying surplus clean power to India.
